Special Accomplishments
2007/2008 Congratulations to the 200+ dancers who took R.A.D. ballet
exams and A.I.D.T tap exams this fall and spring! Everyone passed
easily, with many marks above 80%! Way to go dancers! Congratulations to Tianna Hernandez (Senior Contemporary),
Saskia Wedding (Senior Ballet) and Shanelle Horobec (Intermediate
Stage) for being chosen by local dance festivals to compete at the BC
Festival of The Arts (The Provincials) this May in Burnaby. Big
congratulations to Tianna for being chosen as the runner-up in the
province in Senior Contemporary! Congratulations to the following dancers for auditioning,
being chosen and attending the following Summer Intensives this July
and August: Matisse Maitland (The National Ballet School), Julia Cunha
(Royal Winnipeg Ballet School), Marissa Wong (The Joffrey Ballet
School, New York), Mara Lewis (Okanagan Dance Intensive- formerly the
Banff Centre for the Arts), Tianna Hernandez (American Ballet Theatre)
and Saskia Wedding (The Joffrey Ballet School, New York). Congratulations to the following dancers for being awarded
trophies, scholarships, bursaries and other recognition from local
dance festivals: Morgan Thiessen, Ellie Wedge, Zee Samnani, Nathan Sartore,
Kristina Nishi-Beckingham and Rebecca Gombar, Christian Lagasse,
Matisse Maitland, Larissa Horobec, Taylor Murdoch, Shanelle Horobec,
Mara Lewis, Julia Cunha, Alex Jorgensen, Tianna Hernandez, Ashley
Lafortune, Courtney Lang, Chantal Vicente, Tricia Zuskind, Saskia
Wedding, Kaila Maitland and Rebecca Sclater. Many of the Professional Training groups won numerous
trophies this year, but special congratulations go to the following
groups: Beethoven’s Day (Chilliwack Festival Honours Performance recipient) Witchdoctor (High Score Div. 1 group in Dance Power Surrey) Singing in the Rain (High Score Div. 1 in Dance Power Maple Ridge and Peak North
