Special Accomplishments 2009

Congratulations to the 150+ dancers who took Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Children’s and Vocational ballet exams this spring. All dancers passed with marks of “Merit” and “Distinction” with many marks above 80%. The Winter and Spring Sessions of Association of International Dance Teacher’s (A.I.D.T) tap exams were also very successful with all students easily passing and Zee Samnani receiving the examiner’s choice Tap award for all of British Columbia for the winter session!

Congratulations to Tianna Hernandez (Senior Contemporary) and Matisse Maitland (Junior Ballet) for being chosen by Chilliwack Lion’s Club Music and Dance Festival to represent them at the BC Festival of the Arts ( The Provincials) held in Prince Rupert in May. Marissa Wong was chosen as the Intermediate Ballet Runner-up.

Congratulations to the following dancers for auditioning, being chosen and attending the following Summer Intensives this July and August:

Kimiko Roberts (Royal Winnipeg Ballet School), Olivia Bowyer (Royal Winnipeg Ballet School), Marissa Wong (Ballet Austin, Texas), Morgan Thiessen (Okanagan Summer Dance Intensive- formerly Banff Centre) , Tianna Hernandez (Toronto Dance Theatre) and Matisse Maitland (Pacific Northwest Ballet School, Seattle).

Congratulations to Tianna Hernandez for being awarded a Vancouver Ballet Society scholarship from their annual Spring Seminar.

Many, many groups placed 1^st, 2^nd or 3^rd consistently all year, but groups winning trophies, high score awards and other special recognition include: Barnum, It’s Your Wedding Day, Drum Tap, I Believe In You, Stop, Look and Listen, Grecian Melodies, Seasons of Love, Farmer and The Cowman and Baseball Medley.
