2009/2010 Tri-City Dance Centre Student Accomplishments! Congratulations to: LARISSA HOROBEC for winning the 2010 Provincials in Junior Stage Dance after being chosen as the representative from Surrey Festival of Dance!
MARISSA WONG for being chosen as the alternate to the 2010 Provincials in Intermediate Ballet from Chilliwack Lions Club Festival. Marissa auditioned for, and was accepted to the prestigious "The Rock" School in Pennsylvania for the summer. Marissa also received 3rd High Score solo and a Coastal Dance Rage scholarship from Terpsichore Dance Competition.
MATISSE MAITLAND for being chosen as the alternate to the 2010 Provincials in Junior Stage Dance from Chilliwack Lions Club Festival. Matisse auditioned for, and was accepted to The Royal Winnipeg Ballet's Summer Intensive this July. Matisse was the Division 2 High Score winner and then went on to win the Rose Gala Finale from the Festival Du Ballet. Matisse was awarded a scholarship for Fusion Dance camp from Dance Power, a full scholarship to Triple Threat Dance Convention from Terpsichore and an Extreme Dance Convention full scholarship.
MORGAN THIESSEN for auditioning and being accepted on a full scholarship to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet's Summer Intensive in July. Morgan was named "Most Promising Dancer" and received a full scholarship to Triple Threat Dance Convention from Shine Competition, 4th High Score Solo at Peak Invitational and was named "adjudicator's choice" at the Festival Du Ballet.
FRANCESCA DESAULNIERS for auditioning and being accepted to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet's Summer Intensive in July.
MARA LEWIS for auditioning, and being accepted to the Joffrey Ballet's jazz and contemporary Summer Intensive. Mara also received a Harbour Dance Scholarship from Groove Street.
TRICIA ZUSKIND for auditioning and being accepted into Oklahoma City University's Musical Theatre Intensive this summer.
TAYLOR MURDOCH for receiving the highest score in the Extreme Dance Convention competition and being named their Apprentice for 2010/2011 from Vancouver. Taylor also received the 2nd Highest Score in Division 4 at Peak Invitational Competition and received a Harbour Dance Centre Scholarship from Groove Street Convention.
LEVI DANIELSKI for receiving the highest solo/duo/trio score in Division 3 at the Festival Du Ballet and being awarded a Vancouver Ballet Society scholarship.
NATHAN SARTORE for receiving the highest solo score in the Intermediate Division at Shine Dance Festival and High Mark Solo Division II from Dance Power.
KIMIKO ROBERTS for receiving a Harbour Dance Centre scholarship from Festival Du Ballet and an Extreme Dance Convention Scholarship.
REBECCA GOMBAR for receiving 3rd High Score solo in Division 3 at Peak Invitational.
FAARIA SAMNANI, HAILEY KRAGELJ and ASHLEY CREIGHTON for receiving Extreme Dance Convention Scholarships.
Congratulations to the following dancers who received scholarships, awards and trophies from Chilliwack Lions Club Festival, Surrey Festival of Dance and Pacific West Festival: Larissa Horobec, Shanelle Horobec, Matisse Maitland, Marissa Wong, Morgan Thiessen, Francesca Desaulniers, Mara Lewis, Taylor Murdoch, Levi Danielski, Rebecca Sclater, Rebecca Gombar, Kristina Nishi-Beckingham, Alanna Tambour, Brittany Tucker, Faaria Samnani, Nathan Sartore, Hailey Kragelj, Tricia Zuskind, Kimiko Roberts and Alexis Tucker.
All of our groups did very well this year, but special Congratulations go to the groups "Symphonie Fantastique" (Division 3 High Score winner and 2nd place in the Rose Gala Finale at the Festival Du Ballet), "The Hunted" ("Most Entertaining Group" from Chilliwack Lion's Club Festival), "School Again" ("Most Outstanding Junior Group" from Chilliwack Lion's Club Festival), "Route 66" (3rd high score group award in Division 2 at Peak Invitational Competition) and "Ol'Folks" (3rd High Score Division 3 group at Shine Competition).Duos that receive special mention include: Taylor Murdoch and Rebecca Sclater (High Score Winner in Division 4 from Peak Invitational Competition and High Score Runner-Up at Dance Power),Faaria and Zee Samnani (2nd High Score in Division 4 at Peak), Rebecca Gombar and Alanna Tambour (4th High Score in Division 3 at Peak), Sabrina Desaulniers and Charlotte Hall ( 2nd High Score in Division 2 at Peak) and Kimiko Roberts and Olivia Bowyer (3rd High Score in Terpsichore).
Congratulations to all 140 ballet students who took the Royal Academy of Dance exams this past fall and spring. All dancers passed easily with marks of Merit or Distinction with many marks above 80%!
