TCDC COVID 19 PROTOCOLS
Covid 19 new procedures:
Our only goal with our procedures is to assure our families, dancers and faculty that if a student attended class and later tested positive for Covid 19, that there would be little chance it will have spread to any other students. We will notify parents of any potential exposure only if a positive case was in their dancer’s class.
How do we plan to do this?: (please note that in the case of siblings or dancers who are in each other’s “bubbles”, we will be less concerned about their interaction or social distancing but will still be implementing it in all classes)
Students will stand a minimum of 6 feet away from the next student at the ballet barre
Students will stand in minimum 7x7 foot squares to dance in the centre and most are 8x7.5 feet apart.
Mask use is MANDATORY when entering, exiting and moving through the studio hallways or bathrooms. NO EXCEPTIONS! If a student does not have a mask, we will have them available for $1. (We have ordered 100 studio logo masks. If you would like one, please comment on the private studio facebook page under the mask thread. If you are not a member of that page yet, please request to join TCDC videos and activities Covid-19 2020)
Mask use will be encouraged in classes if the dancer feels comfortable
All faculty will be wearing masks when they can not maintain a minimum of 8 feet of distance between themselves and the dancers.
The lobby is closed to parents. Only dancers will be permitted in the lobby.
All Twirl classes will occur in Studio 5, which is our downstairs studio with access from the parking lot and viewing windows, making it easy for the parents of our very important littlest dancers!
All classes will be available for parents to view through Zoom. More information on this, as well as codes, will be sent the first week of classes.
Each studio will have a separate entrance and exit and bathroom. More information will follow the first week of classes.
A studio “Covid” monitor will be in the lobby between 3:45-7:45 to monitor any dancers in the lobby for social distancing and cleaning the bathrooms every 30 minutes at the minimum.
Studio floors are sanitized with a hospital grade floor cleaner after every class where the dancers have bare feet or body or hands touch the floor.
Ballet barres are sanitized after every class.
Hand sanitizer stations are throughout the lobby and in every studio and dancers will be required to sanitize before and after every class.
Touchless soap dispensers are in every bathroom and in the kitchen area. A touchless tap is also in the kitchen area now too.
Any dancer with any sign of a Covid 19 symptom will be asked to remain at home and participate in their class over Zoom.
Classes are smaller in some cases as the number of squares in each studio varies and some classes will not be able to have as many students as in the past. Our number for our Twirl classes remains at 12 as Studio 5 has 16 squares in it.
Students will not be permitted to touch each other, hold hands etc at this time.
Musical theatre classes will require a mask for the entire class, and voice classes will take place outside when possible. Should the weather no co operate, we will be sending specifics to the PTP voice students on what classes will look like then.
This is our Phase 1. We will begin to lift some of these restrictions once we have received an official okay from Fraser Health and possibly later than that depending on our own comfort levels.
I am hopeful the above will assist in putting your mind at ease that we take our responsibility in your child, and our faculty’s health and safety very, very seriously.
