Marissa was also a Rose Gala winner at Festival Du Ballet and was accepted to Orlando Ballet, Nutmeg Conservatory, Walnut Hill School and Ballet Austin for their summer programs. Marissa also received a mark of Distinction on her Advanced 2 RAD ballet exam this spring!|
     

  • MATISSE MAITLAND - was the winner of The Canadian Nationals Dance Competition "Maple Leaf Award" (highest score) and a Fresh Convention scholarship as well as a winner in the Peak Challenge in Whistler after receiving 1st high score solo. Matisse also received 4th high score solo in Peak Whistler, 3rd high score solo in Peak North Vancouver, was named Most Promising Dancer from Shine Festival and received numerous other awards, scholarships and trophies. Matisse was accepted to Boston Ballet School, L'école Supérieure De Ballet Du Québec and Washington Ballet (DC) for the summer
     

  • FRANCESCA DESAULNIERS - was accepted to the National Ballet School, Miami City Ballet, Boston Ballet, Pacific Northwest and Pittsburgh Ballet for the summer and received scholarships from Surrey Festival.
     

  • REBECCA GOMBAR - received 2nd high score solo and 3rd high score solo in Peak Whistler, 4th high score solo in Peak North Vancouver, 2nd high score solo in Shine Festival and an adjudicators choice award, 1st High Score in Dance Power Burnaby and a Fresh Dance scholarship, High Score Junior at The Canadian Nationals and a Be Discovered scholarship and will be attending the Dance Awards in New York this summer on scholarship. Rebecca also received numerous scholarships and awards from other competitions.
     

  • ANNE HUNG - was accepted to Alberta Ballet Summer School.
     

  • MARA LEWIS - received 2nd high score solo at Peak Whistler and was awarded a Groove Street scholarship from Peak North Vancouver as well numerous other scholarships from other festivals.
     

  • TAYLOR MURDOCH - won the Jump Convention Senior VIP and is off to the Dance Awards this July in New York on full scholarship! Taylor was also chosen to receive a Fresh Dance scholarship from Dance Power Burnaby and many other scholarships from local dance festivals.|
     

  • ZEE SAMNANI - received a Groove Street scholarship from Peak Whistler as well as 2nd high score solo and 3rd high score overall at The Canadian Nationals and a Be Discovered scholarship. Zee also received scholarships from Surrey Festival.

Shanelle was also named the Senior Stage Dance alternate to the Provincials from Chilliwack Lions Club Festival and receive 5th High Score Division 3 at Terpsichore Competition.
     

  • MARISSA WONG for being chosen as the alternate to the 2010 Provincials in Intermediate Ballet from Chilliwack Lions Club Festival. Marissa auditioned for, and was accepted to the prestigious "The Rock" School in Pennsylvania for the summer. Marissa also received 3rd High Score solo and a Coastal Dance Rage scholarship from Terpsichore Dance Competition.
     

  • MATISSE MAITLAND for being chosen as the alternate to the 2010 Provincials in Junior Stage Dance from Chilliwack Lions Club Festival. Matisse auditioned for, and was accepted to The Royal Winnipeg Ballet's Summer Intensive this July. Matisse was the Division 2 High Score winner and then went on to win the Rose Gala Finale from the Festival Du Ballet. Matisse was awarded a scholarship for Fusion Dance camp from Dance Power, a full scholarship to Triple Threat Dance Convention from Terpsichore and an Extreme Dance Convention full scholarship.|
     

  • MORGAN THIESSEN for auditioning and being accepted on a full scholarship to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet's Summer Intensive in July. Morgan was named "Most Promising Dancer" and received a full scholarship to Triple Threat Dance Convention from Shine Competition, 4th High Score Solo at Peak Invitational and was named "adjudicator's choice" at the Festival Du Ballet.

  • KIMIKO ROBERTS for receiving a Harbour Dance Centre scholarship from Festival Du Ballet and an Extreme Dance Convention Scholarship.
     

  • REBECCA GOMBAR for receiving 3rd High Score solo in Division 3 at Peak Invitational.|
     

  • FAARIA SAMNANI, HAILEY KRAGELJ and ASHLEY CREIGHTON for receiving Extreme Dance Convention Scholarships.

 

Congratulations to the following dancers who received scholarships, awards and trophies from Chilliwack Lions Club Festival, Surrey Festival of Dance and Pacific West Festival: Larissa Horobec, Shanelle Horobec, Matisse Maitland, Marissa Wong, Morgan Thiessen, Francesca Desaulniers, Mara Lewis, Taylor Murdoch, Levi Danielski, Rebecca Sclater, Rebecca Gombar, Kristina Nishi-Beckingham, Alanna Tambour, Brittany Tucker, Faaria Samnani, Nathan Sartore, Hailey Kragelj, Tricia Zuskind, Kimiko Roberts and Alexis Tucker.

 

All of our groups did very well this year, but special Congratulations go to the groups "Symphonie Fantastique" (Division 3 High Score winner and 2nd place in the Rose Gala Finale at the Festival Du Ballet), "The Hunted" ("Most Entertaining Group" from Chilliwack Lion's Club Festival), "School Again" ("Most Outstanding Junior Group" from Chilliwack Lion's Club Festival), "Route 66" (3rd high score group award in Division 2 at Peak Invitational Competition) and "Ol'Folks" (3rd High Score Division 3 group at Shine Competition). Duos that receive special mention include: Taylor Murdoch and Rebecca Sclater (High Score Winner in Division 4 from Peak Invitational Competition and High Score Runner-Up at Dance Power),Faaria and Zee Samnani (2nd High Score in Division 4 at Peak), Rebecca Gombar and Alanna Tambour (4th High Score in Division 3 at Peak), Sabrina Desaulniers and Charlotte Hall ( 2nd High Score in Division 2 at Peak) and Kimiko Roberts and Olivia Bowyer (3rd High Score in Terpsichore).

 

Congratulations to all 140 ballet students who took the Royal Academy of Dance exams this past fall and spring. All dancers passed easily with marks of Merit or Distinction with many marks above 80%
